Shelby loves art, reading, STEM, music, and nature. Before coming to Samford, Shelby was an AP Scholar with Distinction, the President of the French Club, and a member of the FFA Chapter and Marching Band at Wilson Central. While attending Samford, Shelby hopes to gain experience and narrow her interests in the various fields of Marine Science, including marine mammal biology and rehabilitation, sustainability of commercial marine agriculture, and marine microbiology. Shelby is excited to be working in Dr. Anthony Overton's Research Lab studying the aging, fecundity, and life cycles of fish. After graduation, Shelby plans to earn her Masters degree in either Marine or Environmental Science and use her degrees to work with policymakers, conserve marine wildlife, and promote the health of bodies of water around the globe.
