On campus Rebecca has served as marketing manager for the International Club for two years, performed in every IGnite Step Sing, and participated in various other organizations throughout her years, such as Student Culinary Council, Student Dietetics Association, Campus Outreach, SGA, Samford’s Crew Team, and Freshman Forum. While remaining involved on campus, Rebecca has also immersed herself in the surrounding city through Birmingham Gospel Outreach; running in several local 5Ks and half-marathons; and membership at the Church at Brook Hills, where she has led worship for her own small group and served as a high school small group leader. She has also worked in various settings, including Steel City Pops, Life Time Fitness, the Samford Wright Center, and as an intern for dietitian and chef Jessica Ivey, RDN. Rebecca currently works as a barista at Baba Java Roaster & Café; a nanny for four kids; and a private tutor in Calculus, Spanish, and Chemistry. Just during her time at Samford, she has traveled to Central Asia, East Asia, and the Middle East on mission trips. When she is not working, Rebecca loves playing sports (especially soccer), hiking, singing, playing guitar, reading theology or fiction, and socializing with friends. Upon graduation in May 2020, Rebecca plans to complete a Dietetic Internship and sit for the national exam to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Her dream is to raise a family and one day move overseas as part of a church planting team among an unreached people group.
