Carter Schultz serves as assistant vice president of University Marketing and Public Relations for Samford University. He provides leadership for the university’s marketing and communication team, including strategic oversight of university marketing and branding initiatives, reputation management, communication, social media, broadcast media and strategic marketing plans for the 10 academic schools and other strategic units on campus. He also serves as a resource for leadership in Advancement, Enrollment Management and Athletics for significant university marketing projects.

Prior to joining Samford in July 2023, Schultz provided executive leadership in Marketing and Communications with Disney Parks, Experiences and Products (DPEP), a division of The Walt Disney Company, based in Orlando, Florida. Throughout his 21-year career with Disney, Schultz led a variety of marketing campaigns and new product launches supporting its Parks, Resorts and Cruise Line operations. He most recently directed the DPEP segment events and experiential marketing business.

Formerly, Schultz also served as vice president at Volvo Rents Construction Equipment, a national equipment rental franchise, locally owned and managed in Central Florida. There he oversaw all aspects of a three-location operation, including oversight of marketing, public relations and finance in a very dynamic time of commercial and residential growth in Central Florida.

Before moving to Birmingham, Schultz served the Orlando community on several boards of nonprofit organizations, including Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida and most recently on the board of the Historical Society of Central Florida. He was also a very active member at Discovery Church Orlando and served regularly in both the Men’s Breakfast as a table lead, as well as served on the Sunday hospitality team.

Schultz holds a BS in Business Administration with a major in Marketing from the University of Florida and earned his MBA from Rollins College’s Crummer Graduate School of Business.

He is married to Shannon, a proud Samford alumnus, and has four children, one of which is currently an undergraduate student at Samford.
