Casey combines her interests in community engagement and writing/editing through her involvement both on campus and in the Birmingham community. As a student employee in Samford’s Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership, she helps to plan and promote community service opportunities. This year, she planned and participated in the spring break service trip to Give Kids the World in Orlando, FL. Next year Casey will be president of the Mann Center organization Partners Acting in the Community Today, in which she has served as student liaison for Northstar Ministries for the past two years. As liaison, Casey partners with Northstar to lead weekly service cadres tutoring children at a low-income elementary school. Casey also tutors writing in Samford’s Communication Resource Center and serves as Assistant Managing Editor for the English department journal, Wide Angle. Last fall, she completed an editorial internship with New Hope Publishers, and this summer she will intern in the children’s publishing department of Lifeway Christian Resources. A member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Tau Delta honor societies, she has made the Dean’s List every semester.
