Hometown: Madison, AlabamaA lover of English and Classics, Emily has been published twice in Wide Angle, and is now its editor of literature for the Fall 2017/Spring 2018 year. She has been on the Dean’s List for three semesters, and was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta honor society her freshman year and Phi Kappa Phi honor society her sophomore year. In Spring 2016, she received the Wheeler Medal for Academic Excellence and the James L. Treadway Memorial Scholarship from the Samford English Department. She is involved in TEDxSamfordU, contributing to its social media and marketing. She has treasured her studies abroad in Italy and England with the University Fellows program, and, inspired by her experiences in Rome and Florence, is working as a research assistant, studying the Renaissance tondo. Blessed with a love of teaching, she worked as a preceptor for the University Fellows Great Ideas Summer Institute, and will be a preceptor for a section of the University Fellows Writing and Rhetoric course in Fall 2017. After college, Emily would like to move to Siena, Italy and spend her days reading literature in the Tuscan countryside, but, that failing, she hopes to go to graduate school and pursue a professorship.
