Hometown: Columbia, MississippiSTAR Student of his graduating class and a member of the Columbia Academy Hall of Fame, Jay served as captain of the quiz bowl and math teams and was recognized for two consecutive years as Math Team Most Valuable Player. During his senior year, Jay was elected President of the Key Club and Treasurer of Mu Alpha Theta and earned a certificate of excellence in financial consulting at the International DECA competition. Consistent with his interest in public policy, Jay assisted with the most recent gubernatorial campaign and inauguration and attended the Trent Lott Leadership Institute at the University of Mississippi for two years, the Mississippi HOBY Leadership Conference, the Palazzo Youth Leadership Summit, Mississippi YMCA Youth Legislature, and Mississippi Boys State. Selected as Most Valuable Player of the golf team during his junior and senior years, Jay served as Golf Team Captain and played varsity football. Outside of school, Jay participated in All-State Baptist Youth Choir for four years, served as a State Senate Page, and volunteered as a church greeter and for various local organizations and events. After graduation, Jay plans to attend graduate school and pursue a career on Capitol Hill as a political strategist.
