Campus Community,

Due to recently updated guidance from the U.S. Department of State and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Samford University is suspending all university-sponsored travel to mainland China, including Hong Kong, effective immediately.

Additionally, the university strongly discourages any personal travel by members of the Samford community (faculty, staff, residential and non-residential students) to these areas. Any member of the Samford community who visits mainland China, including Hong Kong, must be evaluated by a health care provider prior to returning to campus.

Both the U.S Department of State and the CDC have issued travel warnings, urging individuals to avoid all unnecessary travel to these areas while outbreaks of respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus are ongoing. You can read more about these warnings on the CDC and Department of State websites.

If you have questions about this travel restriction, please contact Lauren Doss, Director of Global Engagement.

Best…Buck
