Dear Samford Colleagues:

Samford will resume full operations, ending the period of limited accessibility to campus, and resuming our usual campus work schedules on Monday, August 17, 2020. As we continue our phased “gradual return” to campus plan which encourages you to continue working remotely if possible until August 17th, you may return to campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm beginning on Tuesday, August 4th. Covid-19 testing will be required of all employees (and students) prior to the August 17th full return to campus. Plans are underway for testing to begin next week. Additional information related to employee testing requirements will be shared with employees soon.

The “Bring Back the Bulldogs: A Guide for Returning to Campus” provides important information about preparing to return to the campus and the expectations for employees when they do return. This email provides you with a link to the Acknowledgement which includes within it a link to “Bring Back the Bulldogs: A Guide for Returning to Campus”. All employees (including employees that have previously completed other assigned training and assessments) must acknowledge receipt of the Guide, read the Guide and agree to comply with the practices contained in the Guide. The signed acknowledgement is required before an employee may return to campus. All employees must complete the acknowledgement by August 17, 2020.

Working from home will be an option for those members of the Samford work community who are in the vulnerable classification as defined by the CDC and with very high, high, or moderate vulnerability with high face-to-face interaction, as defined by OSHA.

The Main and East Gates of the campus will remain closed through August 16th. Therefore, those coming to campus before August 17th should enter and exit through the West Gate. You will be greeted there by a Samford Public Safety representative who will ask that you identify yourself, so be ready to show your Samford Identification Card. You will be asked to affirm that you are not exhibiting any of the symptoms that will be listed on a sign at the West Gate. A face mask and a storage bag will be provided to you and you will need to bring it with you each time you return to campus. Wear the mask while in campus common areas and when in the presence of others. We ask that everyone take all reasonable precautions to minimize the transmission of COVID-19 on campus.

Please accept my gratitude for your service to Samford. Your personal well-being will always be foremost in our plans. We pray that before too long, and with God’s grace and your much-needed cooperation, the vibrant campus life that we enjoy so much can be restored.

Best Regards,

Joel R. Windham
Assistant Vice President for Human Resources
