I'm writing today with some exciting news.
As an active and part-time Samford employee you are eligible to receive the Pfizer SARS CoV-2 vaccine to prevent COVID-19. You will receive an email invitation from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to indicate your willingness to receive the vaccine. Vaccination appointments will be subsequently scheduled subject to UAB's vaccine supply. We would like to thank our friends at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for working with us to make this opportunity possible.
In appropriate consultation with your health professional, Samford encourages all employees to vaccinate against COVID-19. On receipt of your email, we hope you immediately avail yourself of this opportunity. Rest assured, while we are immensely grateful that our active, full-time employees will have access to the COVID-19 vaccine, we will continue to work diligently in the pursuit of vaccine opportunities for our part-time employees and students as well. This is a first, very important, step in our journey.
A few things to remember when you receive your email:
- Because UAB is setting aside doses for our benefit, please click on the link even if you do not want to take, or if you previously have received a COVID-19 vaccine. You will have the opportunity to opt out.
- Your link is tied to your Samford email address. Do not give or otherwise transfer this link or offer your slot to anyone else, including friends or family members.
- Please use the link in the email to view UAB's frequently asked questions.
- While the choice is yours to accept or reject a vaccine, please understand we do not anticipate being in a position to offer this opportunity a second time. Should you elect to pass now, you will need to pursue other options on your own.
Please look for your email from UAB in the days ahead.
We appreciate you.
