Dr. Jennifer Ellis West will give a presentation on an approach to teaching that is outlined in her recent co-authored book, The Dialogic Classroom in Higher Education: Revolutionary Listening for Curiosity, Engagement, and Deep Learning. Dr. West will present an overview of the book, including examples from her and her co-authors’ classrooms and insights from the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, which suggest why dialogic classrooms maximize deeply engaged learning. She will also explain why such an approach is particularly suited to the current moment and why the skills that undergird dialogic classrooms are especially aligned with the purposes of Christian higher education.
