What is fraternity recruitment?

Formal fraternity (IFC) recruitment is comprised of four formal rounds (Opening Night, Alumni Night, Brothers Night In, Brothers Night Out) followed by Bid Day. Recruitment is a "mutual selection" process where potential new members (PNMs) and current chapter members can learn more about one another.

When is fraternity recruitment?

Fall 2018 fraternity recruitment will take place September 9-13. A more detailed calendar of events is on the Greek Life recruitment page.

What are the requirements to register for recruitment?

Interested participants must register by 11:59pm. on September 7 and pay a non-refundable $30 application fee. The registration fee increased to $40 on August 1st. To be eligible to participate in fraternity recruitment, participants must be a full-time student at Samford. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended.

How much are chapter dues per semester?

Chapter dues vary by each chapter. At Samford, fraternity dues range around $500–$600 per semester with an additional $100–$200 in new member initiation fees for the first semester.

What is Opening Night?

Opening night is Round 1 of recruitment. At Samford, interested participants will have a chance to visit all five fraternities for formal information sessions.

What is Alumni Night?

Alumni night is the second formal night of recruitment. Participants will have a chance to meet both collegians and alumni from each organization and learn how fraternity life has impacted them after college.

What is Brothers Night In?

During Round 3 of fraternity recruitment, potential members have the opportunity to get to know brothers in a more casual setting at their chapter houses.

What is Brothers Night Out?

During the final round of fraternity recruitment, potential members will be invited to off-campus locations to participate in a selected activity. Be prepared to carpool with friends or drive yourself to the designated off campus location.

What happens on Bid Day?

Bid Day is the final day of fraternity recruitment. All participants in recruitment can check in at the bid table from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Ben Brown Plaza There will be one large event at 4 p.m. on the steps of the University Center for individual chapter photos and then each fraternity will move forward with their own plans for the evening.
