Samford University events are planned in Florida and Texas the week of March 7. The office of admission is working with the office of alumni and parents programs to bring together Samford alumni, parents and prospective students.

The next events are planned in Orlando (March 8) and Tampa (March9), Fla., followed by Dallas (March 11).

“We are hoping that alumni and parents, two groups who know the great value of a Samford education, can help us recruit a new generation of great Samford students,” said David Goodwin, Samford’s director of alumni and parent programs. “We will have a short program focused on sharing events and activities on campus. We want to be sure alums are reminded of all their great memories from campus and give students an idea of what Samford could mean for them.”

Jason Black, Samford’s acting dean of admission, echoed Goodwin’s sentiments.

“As the number of students applying to Samford increases, we have a great chance to present Samford to more and more communities. With great staff leading our admissions recruiting efforts, we want to be sure we visit with great students. We know alumni can help inspire students to enroll at Samford,” Black said.

The events are part of a multi-week tour that began Jan. 12 in Pensacola, Fla.

“We were excited a crowd of almost 60 joined us in Pensacola to hear about Samford and share stories from their Samford experience,” Goodwin said.

Following events in Nashville and Huntsville at the end of January, the “road show” visited Memphis, Atlanta, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Montgomery and Louisville. Crowds have exceeded 300 in some cities and well over 100 in many others, Goodwin noted.

“[The tour] really has become everything we hoped it would,” Goodwin added. “We have made so many great new Samford friends along the way and, I think, really fired up our alums and parents. This will be a new permanent part of our engagement plan, and we will visit even more cities next year.”

Goodwin encouraged alumni and parents to RSVP for next week's events by Friday, March 5, by emailing sualumni@Samford.edu .
