Samford University has announced dates for two major fall weekends.

Family Weekend will be Oct. 3-4. A full schedule of events will be announced at a later date, according to Kelia Furr, Samford's director of parent programs. The weekend will include a Saturday afternoon football game against new Southern Conference rival Mercer University.

Homecoming is Oct. 30-Nov. 1. Featured alumni reunions are the classes of 1964, 1989 and 2004, although many organizations and groups are planning reunion events during the weekend.

The homecoming schedule will be announced in early summer, according to Molly McGuire, interim director of alumni programs. McGuire's office coordinates Homecoming with a university-wide planning committee. Traditional events during the weekend will include the homecoming banquet on Friday night honoring the 2014 alumni award recipients, a parade and tailgating on Saturday morning, and a Saturday afternoon football game against Concordia College of Selma, Ala.
