The deadline for submitting nominations for Samford University's annual alumni honors has been extended to Feb. 21.
"The recent winter storms across much of the U.S. have caused schedules to be chaotic for many people," said Molly McGuire, Samford's interim director of alumni programs. "Based on the inquiries we were receiving, we felt that an additional week was needed for people to have adequate time to prepare nominations for submission."
Nominees for Alumnus of the Year should be distinguished in their professional careers, community and church involvement, and in their ongoing service to and financial support of Samford. Recognition can be for lifetime achievement or for a significant achievement during the previous year. To be eligible, graduates must have completed at least one Samford degree at least 15 years prior to selection (1999 or earlier).
Nominees for Outstanding Young Alumnus also should be distinguished in their professional careers, community and church involvement, and in their ongoing support of Samford. To be eligible, graduates must have completed at least one Samford degree within the last 10 years (2004 or later).
