Beginning with the fall 2014 semester, Samford University’s Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education will offer a master’s degree in elementary education in an online format.
"Our new online program will allow a student to complete our program within their own time frame," said Tarsha Bluiett, program director. "We have a number of alumni who would like to earn a master’s from the School of Education, but who are unable to attend class on campus."
The 30-hour program is designed for those who have completed a bachelor's degree in elementary education and desire to gain knowledge and understanding of pedagogical concepts to impact their practice, the practice of others and learners in the kindergarten through 6th grade classroom.
“Online courses will offer the same quality education as students receive in the classroom, including strong relationships with classmates and faculty, small class sizes and blend of theoretical concepts with practical, hands-on experiences, all delivered by our award-winning faculty,” Bluiett said.
Samford’s curriculum and instruction department also offers a master’s degree in gifted education, educational specialist degree in teacher leader and fifth-year alternative program in early childhood/elementary education designed for those who have earned a B.A. or B.S. degree in another area and would like to be certified teacher of infants-grade 6.
