Collectively, Samford University’s ten academic schools offer 177 undergraduate majors and 70 graduate programs. This fall, to provide prospective students a glimpse into what makes a Samford degree distinct, many schools are offering virtual and in-person open house events.

The date and format of each event vary by school, but they all seek to provide similar experiences.  Prospective students will hear from faculty and current students, have the opportunity to ask questions of admission staff, learn more about admission requirements and see Samford’s campus and unique facilities.

Virtual events will be hosted through online platforms, like WebEx and Zoom, and in-person events will take place on Samford’s campus, but attendance will be limited.

School of the Arts

Samford’s School of the Arts is hosting several custom virtual admission events for prospective undergraduate students based on their interests. These events include:

  • Backstage Pass, a behind-the-scenes look at studying music at Samford on Oct. 23 with the Division of Music.
  • Audition Prep Studios on Nov. 6 hosted by the Department of Theatre and Dance.
  • Art and Design Days are scheduled for Oct. 23 and Nov. 6 with the Division of Art and Design.
  • The Department of Christian Ministry will host students on Oct. 22 and Nov. 5.

All events will combine an overview along with faculty breakout sessions. Attendees will receive helpful information about the admission process to the School of the Arts.

Howard College of Arts & Sciences

Samford’s Howard College of Arts and Sciences invites prospective students to explore the school’s website to learn more about its more than 40 majors and concentrations, and find contact information for program directors and department chairs. Students interested in the school’s journalism and mass communication program can connect with professor Betsy Emmons each Thursday via Zoom.

Working professionals and upper-level undergraduates can learn more about the school’s all-online Master of Science in Environmental Management degree (including joint M.B.A. and J.D. options) and graduate certificates in environmental management and geographic information systems by contacting Anthony Overton, chair of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences.

Brock School of Business

Samford’s Brock School of Business offers both undergraduate majors and graduate degrees. This fall, due to GMAT and GRE exam delays in relation to COVID-19, Brock School of Business is waiving the entry exam requirement for interested Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.) applicants with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0. This waiver will apply to the spring and summer 2021 terms only. Interested applicants may connect Elizabeth Gambrell, associate director of academic programs, to schedule a virtual visit or information session.
