Clayton McWhorter, who provided a cornerstone gift several years ago for the McWhorter School of Pharmacy, was honored last week in Nashville with that city's Humanitarian Award.  As a sign of support for this distinguished Samford graduate, several of us from the campus attended the luncheon and ceremony.  One of the speakers, a person who received vital financial aid from a scholarship fund endowed by Mr. McWhorter, said, "Mr. McWhorter, you saved my life."  Indeed, lives are changed--often saved--each day because of the selfless acts of men and women like Clayton McWhorter.

The world is better because of the generous spirit of Samford alumni and friends.
