Survey of Southern Baptist Church Worship Practices in Alabama
We invite Alabama Southern Baptist Church leaders to complete the survey below to help us identify trends in worship services and provide information about their worship leadership teams.
Exploring Worship in Alabama’s SBC Churches
We recently completed a statewide study of Southern Baptist Churches in Alabama, examining their musical worship practices and leadership. Through interviews and surveys, we gathered insights into how worship is conducted across churches of all sizes and contexts. Our research focused on post-pandemic trends, revealing what’s working, where challenges remain, and how worship leadership is evolving in today’s SBC landscape.
Project Goals & Impact
At the outset of this project, we set out to accomplish several key objectives:
- Gain a clearer picture of worship practices within Southern Baptist Churches in Alabama.
- Understand who was leading worship, including demographic details, team sizes, and instrumentation.
- Share our findings with churches and leaders to provide insight into the current worship landscape.
- Highlight successful practices from one context that could inspire innovation in others.
- Clarify how we, as an educational institution, can better support and equip emerging worship leaders and serve the local church.
We hope this data will prove valuable to other leadership entities serving the church, such as seminaries and denominational offices—and we’re excited about the possibilities it opens for future collaboration and development.
