Ellie is involved on and off campus. She graduated her high school summa cum laude with an honors diploma, as well as participating in National Honor Society and the Science Club. She was first chair and trumpet section leader in her high school band earning the title of most outstanding band member. Ellie also earned the title of most outstanding Spanish student during her years in high school. She volunteered as a Chemistry tutor, a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, and a dental assistant during two mission trips to Guatemala. At Samford, Ellie is a member of the Samford Chemistry Club, Howard College Ambassadors, University Fellows Recruitment Council, and Alpha Omicron Pi. She currently works as a babysitter for the company WYNDY. Ellie has a love of the elderly, visiting and cleaning their homes, and sitting with Alzheimer’s patients while their caregivers are on vacation. Her experiences with the elderly in her community have inspired her to pursue a career as a geriatric physician and conduct Alzheimer’s research. Ellie will spend this summer conducting chemistry research, shadowing physicians, and visiting her elderly friends.
