Prior to coming to Samford, Heath earned his Eagle Scout award and has continued to aspire to the scouting ideals of service and leadership. At Samford he is committed to service both on and off campus. He enjoys helping out with the children’s and college ministries at Mountain Brook Community Church as well as volunteer each week at Cahaba Valley Healthcare in order to provide free dental care to those in need. In addition to helping maintain Samford’s conservatory, Heath has helped to organize service projects for the biology department to clean up Red Mountain Park and participated in projects to cleanup Shades Creek. Furthermore, he has been blessed to serve the student body in various leadership roles including SGA President, Pre-Dental Society President, SGA VP for Senate, SGA Secretary of Senate, SGA Senator, SGA Sophomore Advisor, SGA Freshman Forum, TEDx Treasurer, Howard Scholar, University Fellows Recruitment Council, and Crew Team VP of Equipment and Safety. Academically, Heath has participated in Honor Societies such as Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Beta Beta Beta, Alpha Epsilon Delta, and Alpha Lambda Delta and has been awarded both the Wheeler, Seal, and Tower awards for outstanding GPA. In his spare time, he enjoys translating the Greek New Testament, wood working, and nature observation and exploration. He hopes to someday serve as a dentist and also to become a Scoutmaster in order to share his passions with the next generation of servant leaders.
