Before coming to Samford University, Katie was a member of the National Honors Society, treasurer of the local chapter of the International Thespian Society at the Westminster School at Oak Mountain, and president of the school’s Creative Writing Club. In addition to this, Katie was involved in numerous volunteer positions at different museums throughout her high school career, working as a youth volunteer in the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Indiana, and the McWane Science Center here in Birmingham. During her time at Samford, Katie is studying Classical history, but remains active in the creative community by auditioning for and participating in plays directed by the Samford theatre department. Katie has just completed a summer internship in Washington, D.C. where she worked at the U.S. National Arboretum as an archivist. Upon graduating, Katie plans on attending grad school in order to gain further experience and knowledge in the Classics community and field.
