Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama
Before coming to Samford University, Katie was a member of the National Honors Society, treasurer of the local chapter of the International Thespian Society at the Westminster School at Oak Mountain, and president of the school’s Creative Writing Club. In addition to this, Katie was involved in numerous volunteer positions at different museums throughout her high school career, working as a youth volunteer in the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Indiana, and the McWane Science Center here in Birmingham. While volunteering at McWane, she eventually was appointed to be one of fourteen Teen Leaders overseeing and training the incoming volunteers. During her time at Samford, Katie plans on studying History and Creative Writing. After graduating, Katie desires to obtain her Masters in Public History so that she may continue pursuing her love of museum work and bringing history alive to the masses in a professional setting.
