Defamation Experience

The nationally acclaimed Defamation Experience begins with a riveting courtroom drama that explores issues of race, class, religion, gender and the law with a twist: the audience is the jury. Combined with an audience deliberation and a facilitated discussion, the Defamation Experience provides a unique opportunity for attendees to engage in civil discourse about the most pressing social issues of our day. As a part of Lead with Love Week, the Defamation Experience is presented by the Office of Diversity and Intercultural Initiatives in partnership with Cumberland School of Law, the Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership, the Student Activities Council and the Student Government Association. As a part of Lead with Love week, the School of Public Health will lead an insightful simulation with members of the Samford community. The poverty simulation experience is designed to help those involved understand what it might be like to be a part of a typical low income family trying to survive from month-to-month. Just Mercy Private Screening

Just Mercy tells the true story of Walter McMillian, who with the help of young defense attorney Bryan Stevenson appeals his murder. There is no cost to attend this screening, but space is limited and reservations are required.
