Opera Birmingham presents Catch a Rising Star

Catch a Rising Star features the winner of our 2017 Vocal Competition in an intimate recital. Previous competition winners have included a number of artists who have gone on to international careers, with this return concert providing valuable exposure and experience for the rising generation of opera stars. Davis Lecture presents Dan Fagin

Pulitzer Prize-winning science and environmental journalist Dan Fagin will present the 2017 J. Roderick Davis Lecture. Author of Toms River, a gripping, true account of childhood cancers caused by industrial pollution in Toms River, NJ, Fagin will address living responsibly today. This free lecture is co-sponsored by Howard College and the Mann Center.

Banjo and guitar playing, singer, songwriter, Ashley Campbell graces the Samford stages sharing stories and images from her childhood performing with her legendary father Glen Campbell.


ASO Red Diamond SuperPops Series presents A Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch

November 10 at 7 p.m.

Alabama Symphony Orchestra presents an evening that celebrates the life and career of this superb composer and conductor, winner of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards along with a Pulitzer Prize. Local leading lady Kristi Tingle Higginbotham and pianist Rich Ridenour will be featured in music Hamlisch wrote for Hollywood and Broadway - along with popular medleys from his personal library. Opera Birmingham presents Sounds of the Season

December 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Kick off the holidays with Sounds of the Season, a concert of favorites both sacred and secular. Featuring surprise guest artists and familiar faces, the concert will feature a variety of solo and ensemble performances to set the perfect mood for the holiday season. Opera Birmingham is teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps to provide toys for less fortunate children in the community this season through their TOYS FOR TOTS program.
