Samford On-Campus Media Policy

Samford University seeks to service media requests by providing accurate and timely information. As a private academic institution, Samford balances media access with the privacy and security of our students, employees and visitors.

Conducting interviews:

Prior to visiting campus, media must receive approval from Samford’s Marketing & Communication team.

Please contact:

Allan Taylor, Executive Director of University Communication
205-726-4897 or allan.taylor@samford.edu

Zac Fuller, University Communication Manager

Samford encourages the use of Zoom or other virtual video conferencing platforms for interviews with expert sources. Media must obtain express consent before photographing, filming or interviewing individuals on campus.

Media access to university buildings, classrooms or facilities requires advance permission from Marketing & Communication, regardless of who initiated the outreach, and may be granted or revoked at the university’s discretion. Approved media will be accompanied by a Samford communication staff member while on campus.

Residence Halls

Residence halls are closed to news media. Students may not invite media inside.

Commercial photography or filming

Commercial photography or filming must be approved by Marketing & Communication. A Certificate of Insurance is required, and Samford may impose daily filming fees. Provide hyperlink to the photography page.

Emergency situations
