Samford Department of Art and Design Awards Presented at Juried Art Show
Samford University students were presented with art and design departmental awards on Monday, March 25, during the opening reception of the 2024 Juried Art Student Showcase. Students, faculty and members of the community came to view the pieces displayed. From the 160 submissions, only 40 were chosen to be presented in the gallery.

Andrews, Executive Director of Samford’s Center for Worship and the Arts, Receives Grant for Fostering Leadership for Communities of Faith
Samford University is among a select group of Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE) members to receive a grant for Fostering Leadership for Communities of Faith from the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC). Through this initiative, CIC aims to develop and strengthen programs designed to support students who are exploring future leadership roles in communities of faith. Emily Andrews, executive director of the Center for Worship and the Arts and assistant professor of music and worship, is excited about directing the project. She aims to leverage Samford’s expertise and network in the arts to empower emerging artists toward faithful, lifelong worship and discipleship.

Recently, Samford University Cumberland School of Law’s National Trial Teams completed a rare double sweep of the regional championships for the National Trial Competition and the American Association of Justice’s Student Trial Advocacy Competition. The two teams will represent Cumberland School of Law at the national competitions for each respective tournament the first week of April.

Chelsea Reynolds Nicholson, assistant professor of musical theatre at Samford, SAG-AFTRA actor and the director of Tomorrow, the Island Dies, collaborated with the esteemed composer, Ryan Scott Oliver, to realize her vision for the production.
